Announcing an audio authoring agreement

A few moments ago I had a chat with a friend who specializes in audio design. He agreed to do the audio effects for the new game.

We have worked before on some animated films with Cattle Show, it's been a lot of fun and he created amazing stuff. I'm really looking forward to hearing what he comes up with for this game.

Here's how it's going to work.

First I will capture some video footage of the game in action and send it to him. He will import the video into his multitrack audio software (I would guess Cubase SX but maybe he has switched to another one since I last saw him work).

Then he's going to add sound effects to the sequence as if it was a movie and send the resulting audio tracks back to me. I will extract each sound into a separate WAV file and add game code that plays it when appropriate.

This is going to be comfortable for both of us. I just need to create a piece of representative video footage of the game, send it to him and that's it.

He won't have to wrestle with the early - and thus buggy - versions of the game. He won't need to import and reload any sound data all the time or play it over and over again to trigger a specific sound.

Check out the guy's website: surrealmadrid.net (I designed the site, by the way). He releases music there under the moniker MMtm. Free MP3s!
