Lights, camera, action! (and smoke)

I finally completed the code* needed to do in-game cutscenes. There's a class for dialogs that allows me to write a script for one or more characters and have them say the lines. And I can record movement and other actions directly in the game, save it and put it in the script as well. And voila, the little guys start walking around and talking to each other! It's hilarious.

Now I'm off to watch some old sci-fi movies for inspiration on the actual dialogs I will put in. We'll start with Plan 9 from outer space and no other scene than the infamous one with "There are flying saucers".

* I hate it when people say "engine" or "technology". It is just a piece of code, so why pretend it's something more? But at least it's good for one thing - every time I see an announcement of a new game that begins with a list of new engine features and polygon counts, I can be 100% sure the game will suck donkey balls.
